Recap: Boerne Hill Country Fall Antiques Show

One of the lovely things about antique shows is that they present the elegant alongside the ordinary.

For instance, this weekend at the Boerne Hill Country Fall Antiques Show we saw a stunning opal necklace mere footsteps away from vintage seed packets, brown jugs, and time-worn wooden bowls. With St. Nick’s arrival on the horizon, there was an abundance of Santas on hand, too, from vintage 20th century plastic lights to imported Russian versions evoking Old World nostalgia.

One of our favorite finds? A collection of antique hand-tooled leather handbags that reminded us of Mercedes McCambridge’s character, Luz Benedict, in Giant. In fact, we got so wrapped up in looking at the bags, that we completely forgot to take a picture!

We did, however, snap some other photos to share here and on our Facebook page.

The show is a semi-annual affair for Boerne and draws vendors from across the state, making each show a little different. And since many of the vendors now only sell at shows, it’s a unique opportunity to see a wide array of interesting items, from children’s toys to Steuben glass.

Sound like something you might be interested in attending in the future? Mark your calendars: the spring version of the show is slated for February 24 & 25, 2018 at the Kendall County Fairgrounds.
