Photographs and text by Denise L. Moore
As an artist, I capture moments of creatures, longhorns, babies, mommas, nature and more. I’m there until a subject forgets I’m there. That’s when the real photography begins – unbridled expressions, emotions; nature goes on as the spider’s web catches her lunch or the hen plays with her chick. I become a witness to life. It’s sacred, authentic.
Photography finds beauty in the mundane, extraordinary in the ordinary. But digital photography can be a curse! Hundreds of moments captured costing nothing but time.
Experimenting with light and color on my computer, it’s like the darkroom and more. With technology, I’m allowed the freedom to pursue multiple visions of what I captured. Again, but this time alone, I’m immersed in the subject, finding nuances, beauty, and ways to manipulate the image to my vision.
I love iPhone photography, too. On the street, on the farm, at a birth, or driving past a country church, my phone’s camera is an extension of my eyes. Mobile photography opens a new world.
Digital processing’s another art, too. Sometimes as I shoot, I see what the image will be post processing. Other photos develop themselves as I edit.
Still, living through a lens – any lens, big or small – offers me a great view.
