Wondering how and where we can begin to support the community of Sutherland Springs directly in the wake of this week’s horrible tragedy?
We’ve got a few leads to share.
• Earlier today Eric Cooper, president of the San Antonio Food Bank, shared in an email to supporters that the First Baptist Church of Sutherland Springs–the site of Sunday’s mass shooting–is also one of the food bank’s pantries. As such, it is part of a vital network that helps connect hungry people with the food bank’s resources.
Cooper noted that the food bank would be working to support the church and the community in the coming days. He also encouraged interested parties to make a donation directly to the church. Look for the PayPal donation button on the church’s website.
• The San Antonio Current reports that H-E-B has launched a fundraising campaign. You can read more about that initiative here.
• Finally, there is a benefit barbecue scheduled for Saturday, November 11. Smokin’ Angels BBQ Ministry and St. Mark Lutheran Church in Adkins are the hosts. For more details, click here.
