See Hamilton, Texas

Looking for an authentic small town experience for your next afternoon getaway? Hamilton (pop. 3,095) has a lot to recommend it.

To begin, may we suggest you visit the Dutchman’s Hidden Valley Country Store? Long-time Hill Country residents are familiar with this family-run business with its hand-kneaded bread, smoked sausage, and cheeses. After your meal, grab a jar of jelly, a bit of peanut brittle, or some taffy for the road home, too. Want more of a big city deli-style meal? Visit Wenzel LoneStar Meat Company for a Reuben sandwich or a corned beef on rye with sauerkraut. (Pickle optional.)

If art and architecture are your thing, then check out the old Hamilton courthouse and the historic WPA mural painting by Ward Lockwood in the old post office. More of a trail blazer? Then you’ll want to participate in the Durty Spur Trail Run slated for April 21, 2018. And who could resist a little sip of red from Red Wing Dove winery or a heavy dose of R&R at The Inn at Circle T?
